She said it's the fear of herself. It was right in front of our eyes, ears actually. She's singing about blond superstars who died cuz The Fame killed them. She's singing stuff like She's a tramp, a vamp and a mess. Everything they said for her. Everything that her boyfriend said to her. He said she can't be a star. That's what press said about her. Until they began to understand her. It was so obvious, and we couldn't see it. We need to work more, monsters! =) share your thoughts!

But.. Sylvia Plath didn't die because of The Fame. She died because of her supposedly abusive husband, Ted Hughes or whatever his name was.

speechless if fear of death, she said it once, i believe on some radio interview. according to wikipedia, Sylvia Plath committed a suicide -Plath took her own life after she completely sealed the rooms between herself and her sleeping children with "wet towels and cloths." Plath then placed her head in the oven while the gas was turned on. The next day an inquiry ruled that her death was a suicide.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvia_PlathDance In The Dark is actually a very scary song. And very very dark one, maybe the darkest on the album.

There is still debate over who caused her suicide and people believe it was because of her husband That poor woman Her stupid husband burnt so many of her works so that it wouldn't be released. I have a feeling it was probably her poems about his abusiveness.. ANYHOW, to relate back to Mr. Zombie's post, Plath's death does related to DITD because her husband probably called her those things as well, that the boyfriend in the song

Didn't know that. thanks. Poor Sylvia. Destroying piece of art is terrible, and destroying a person with it is even worse! I'm so sorry for her and her kids. There's JonBenet Ramsey in the song, she also had a very sad and shocking story.

I love how in depth you all are. I really enjoyed reading this thread!
Teeth is by far one of my favs along with Speechless.
I heard she originally wrote Telephone for Britney(who turned it down) and that the person in the song calling is actually her own thoughts she is trying to run away from. I can't remember where I heard it though.
Love this. Gaga. And my fellow Monsters. Xoxo.
